so tonight i met up with some of my friends pictured to your right at what would be considered our "local." granted, it IS a national chain (with some international locations), but each restaurant has items hanging on the walls that are representative of that particular community, so it has a bit of a home-y feel.i like my friends. i was sitting back and listening to the conversation, and partaking in it from time to time--and as i did that, i realized that we've grown up together--literally. we used to talk about boyfriends and proms and spring breaks. after that we talked about classes and professors and parties and...boys. now we talk about fiances and marriages and dentist visits, careers and puppies.
last night i went to a dinner where i met two women who had been friends for 32 years. i asked them why they thought the friendship endured. they didn't really have an answer. margie just replied, "well, we've been through everything together. good and bad. that's just kind of the way it is. i can't imagine my like without carmen."
maybe there's no secret to really making friendship work--it's just kind of being. it just kind of is.
(note: in case you can't tell, i've gotten a digital camera and have started to go crazy with it. i love it. as tara would say, "it's like instant gratification.")
