alright, aaaaaaalright already....

i have a confession to make. i've neglected my blog because i've been cheating on it. yes, that's right. i've been out wining and dining other browsers and you know what? I'VE LOVED IT. I AM IN LOVE WITH MYSPACE. ::gasp::
i mean hear me out for a second....YOU CAN FIND A RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF PEOPLE ON THAT THING. people i haven't seen for years, maybe even a decade! seriously, i need an intervention because i can waste away hours of my precious life looking for miami and fairfield graduates, perusing photos to see if i can still recognize some people after about 6 years, looking at networks of friends to see if i know anyone...
maybe in the way that kidney stones scare me off from coke when i'm getting a little too addicted, unbearable hand cramps would scare me off from myspace. i don't know what the answer is people (but mine is....cover your eyes blogger, you don't want to see this: www.myspace.com/britterslp).
in other news, angie has intsructed me to write on my feelings about honking since an event yesterday led me to voice some very strong opinions on the subject. now, don't get me wrong....i'm not AGAINST the horn. i think it's a very well-suited device for warning other drivers, pedestrians, and small and large animals alike of impending danger. ::honk:: 'WATCH OUT KITTEN, MY TIRES ARE ABOUT TO FLATTEN YOUR FRAGILE BODY.' :: honk:: 'I AM IN YOUR BLINDSPOT AND YOU ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE LANES RIGHT INTO MY BRAND NEW LEXUS WHICH SADLY I'M INCAPABLE OF DRIVING WELL.' i even think it's a great device to give a friendly wave to someone that you know. you see a neighbor, a classmate, a long-time friend, give them a little honk and a big grin--maybe sing to them out of your window--i am a-okay with all of this.
i, however, HATE that some genius carrying the xy chromosome thought it would be the answer to his days of bachelorhood by honking his horn at a pretty girl who was walking down the street AS HE DRIVES PAST AT 30MPH. what makes me more angry is that every time, it's inevitable that the girl will look over because she thinks it's either someone she know or that she's being warned by someone. so obviously, this type of horn honkage leads to the desired effect--namely, that the girl looks over, but then what? is it that you just want to say, 'hey there sexy lady, i think you're good looking and i want you to notice my '96 toyota corrolla?' because that's about as far as you're going to get. maybe you want the sexy lady to think that you're good looking too? well, vain, but fair enough--all the same--DID YOU NOT REALIZE THAT YOU'RE DRIVING BY HER AT.....OOOOOH 10 TIMES THE SPEED THAT SHE'S WALKING? chances are guys, you're not going to get much more than a bit of a confused stare that quickly changes back to ignoring your existence all together.
sometimes i feel like i'm back in the days of cavemen....::honk:: grunt, grunt....girl...look...me....want....you. i believe in you guys. you can do better than this, can't you?
moral of that story--if you're a guy who is reading this i fully trust that you are NOT a honker because i know most of my readership and ya'll are stand-up fellas. but as a favor to the female gender, i would appreciate it if you passed the message along to your maybe, not so tuned in friends....come up with something better and start using your horn for what it's for.

Well, maybe it's the fact that these "honkers" you've mentioned in this post have a double x chromosome...that would mean they're having an identity crisis, as typical males are xy. In such a situation, maybe they're simply honking to reach out to ladies on the street to say "help me...I'm really one of you." I don't know, just a thought. :)

I don't care if you know your human biology facts...I get to see you in a week! Yippeeeee! But then again, that means I'm getting married in a week and a half...AAAAHHHHH! Hehe.
