this post is mostly for my mommy, but you guys can sneak a peak at my news for home as well.

if a decision is hard to make for me, i usually have to make it really quickly. like when i got my second holes for my earrings AND the one at the top on my left ear, i had no plans to do it. i was just in the mall one day and decided that i should get more holes in my ear so i went in and walked out with 5 holes instead of just the 2. when i left america to come to liverpool for 1-2 years, it took about a 3 minute conversation with a lady i barely knew and i decided that i'd do it.
so this morning, simply because it was a sunny day as i was getting off of the bus i decided to do something that i haven't done in over 3 years.

i got my hair wacked. i think about a good 10lbs of my hair was on the ground and it took me about 2 hours to deal with the fact that a lot of it is gone, but i like it now. i think i will miss having long hair though, but i'm really wanting some summertime and i think this is a warm weather kind of cut.

the one on the right, i'm sitting up completely straight, so mom in case you were wondering, that means it's preeeeeetty angular. i think this haircut is probably cooler than i can pull off.

today on my way home from campus, i saw a scouse kid (liverpool native), leaving school, listening to his ipod.
apparently he had it on quite loud, because i'm almost positive that he forgot where he was (church road, for you liverpool residents) and so he was singing and dancing down the street pretty loudly.
i stopped....looked over at him....he caught my eye....stopped singing and dancing....and proceeded as normal.
at first i stood silently because i was just a little thrown off that he'd be that blatantly public with his dance moves and singing voice, but then i could not stop laughing.
good for you little 14 year old scouse boy. you do your thang.

so sarah and i made a promise to one another yesterday on a very crowded 86 double-decker as we stood next to the stairs.
sarah: brit, can we please make a pact that we won't be those mothers that compete with each other about how great their kids are?
brit: like those moms who say, "MY BILLY WON 3 RIBBONS IN THE EQUESTRIAN COMPETITION THIS WEEKEND." and then i say, "OH YEAH? WELL, MY KIMBERLY IS CHAMPION OF THE WORLD."
sarah: yeah...let's not be those mothers.
brit: i totally agree. let's make the pact right now. and let's also vow to make fun of those mothers who do.
we shake and spit on the backs of our hands which demonstrates that we have no idea how to make a pact. we look at each other, sure that wasn't right....unlock our grip, spit on our PALMS (with my mitten on), and shake again.
i'm glad THAT issue is taken care of. sarah, that also applies to nieces/nephews. ::eyebrow raise::

it has been SNOWING in liverpool. properly snowing. well...on sunday...and now it's wednesday. but who gives a...?

my team took out some snowball rage on 'local track suit wearing hooligans' sunday post-church service...in fact outside of the church of all places. this cracks me up. everytime i think of it, i bust out laughing. imagine the church pastor driving by with his wife and kids. he's laughing heartily as he discusses their lunchtime plans and as he glances to the left, in a shocked scouse accent says slowly and alarmingly:
dot (his wife), isn't that the agape team pummeling those kids with snowballs? the team looks really angry.
and as he says it sarah tackles one and is rubbing this kid's face into the snow really viciously (that didn't happen...exactly...by the way).
needless to say, the snowball match quickly turned sour as games of good nature often do when they include aggressive acts, and the lacoste doning boys retaliated with a surprise attack--making my poor team very, very unhappy and wet...and cold. and let's throw in a little bit mentally murderous for kicks.
all of that aside, i love snow! i mean....maybe that snowball fight made me love snow more. it started innocently anyway. let's be honest--atleast the snowballs weren't rocks. that's a positive.
is that better ry?

pigeons...can we talk about them for just a minute? i'm not going to go on my normal rant about how much i hate them because they fly at and occassionaly into your head because i'm sure you've heard me mention it before, BUT i'm just going to list another reason they are the worst bird ever.
they can fly. something that most human beings would kill to be able to do. but they will avoid flying at all costs. they will walk. and walk. and walk out of your way. they will walk across a street. they will walk over to their food.
WAKE UP PIGEONS...YOU HAVE WINGS. FLY FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE.
that just really bothered me today. i needed to get off of my chest.
something else that bothered me...do you guys ever find that when you walk into the bathroom, there could be 20 stalls and you always walk into the worst smelling one? one that seems someone just contaminat...i mean....used?
that is my life, every single toilet entry. there's got to be something symbolic about that.

jen's observation helped me to realize how much i base my opinions on my feelings--ie. loving the new buses, but then wanting to kill someone on them when he/she is coughing phlegm balls into my hair or for those of you who have been reading since last spring, my whole issue with the monocloud v. the rising 4:30am spring sun. this just validates that i'm a feeler. i write what i feel people...i wriiiiite what i feeeel.

but i'd like to say something that will stay positive. i love liverpool's weather when there is snow on the ground. i woke up this morning to a powder-covered street and have been walking around in snow flurries--the kind that get caught on your eyelashes--all day. aaaaaah. the only thing that would've made this day more perfect is being able to launch myself down a hill, wrapped in cling film/saran wrap once i got back from campus.

but although sledding without a sled wasn't a part of my day, i still enjoyed how white and beautiful snow makes everything, from the countryside to even the most industrial of cities.
this photo was dangerously taken with me hanging out of my window, trying to maneuver and contort my body so that i didn't get the actual window in the picture. i just kept envisioning dropping my camera on the pavement...or leaning a little too far...and falling myself, but it was worth the risk. i'm happy about the shot of good ol' hereford.
